5 tips to manage Panic:
- Doing breathing exercises or meditation every day will help to prevent panic attacks and relieve them when they are happening.
- Regular exercise, especially aerobic exercise, will help you to manage stress levels, release tension, improve your mood, sleep and boost your self-confidence.
- Eat regular meals to stabilise your blood sugar levels.
- Avoid caffeine, alcohol and smoking – these can make panic attacks worse.
- Challenge the thoughts that are causing the panic via Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT).
CBT is a great way of getting rid of the anxiety/panic for the long term.
The basic principle is that by identifying the unhelpful thoughts and patterns of behaviour that are feeding your panic attacks, you challenge them, begin to believe something else is possible, thereby don’t feel panic.
In essence, anxiety/panic loves a person who is tired, hungry, stressed and not thinking helpfully about life and themselves.
